It is worth being precise, because the two words are used loosely in Spanish property listings and they describe very different homes.
A genuinely beachfront home sits on the shoreline itself, with nothing between it and the sand. On the Spanish coast these are rare and almost always older, because coastal protection law restricts what can be built close to the sea, so most true beachfront stock dates from before those rules or occupies plots that will never be repeated. It comes with trade-offs that are easy to overlook from a brochure: salt and wind exposure, passing footfall along the promenade in season, and a view that is level with the water rather than over it.
A beachside home sits within easy reach of the beach but slightly back from it, often on rising ground. That is what we build. At Alcaidesa the land climbs from the shoreline, so our homes look along the coast and across the Mediterranean rather than straight at it, with the beach a short distance below. In practice most buyers who search for beachfront want the beach in their daily life rather than the shoreline under their windows, and this is the position that delivers it with the better view, more privacy and a quieter home.

The shoreline at Alcaidesa is a long Blue Flag beach with calm water and low occupancy, kept quiet by the links golf course behind it, which limits access to a few points along its length. Buying near the beach rather than on it tends to be the more durable decision on this coast. Elevated positions hold their outlook because the land between them and the water is either protected, occupied by the golf course or already built, so the view is not at the mercy of the next planning cycle. Homes set back from the shoreline also take less wear from salt and wind, and they stay quieter through the summer when the promenade fills up.
